Updated Harmony Realms - Masters Project

For my MSc final project, I expanded my 3D music theory education game Harmony Realms to include personalisation and reflective feedback.

This project aimed to find out what extent these additions had on player learning and enjoyment of music theory compared to the original game.

Using the 'Scale Construction' level, I developed 5 alternate level versions corresponding with the Big 5 personality types, the player is assigned a personality type by completing the Mini-IPIP quiz at the start of the game.

These level variations range from time of day and colour scheme, forest and puzzle layout design, and mascot personality, such as the tone and wording of the level’s instructions, learning sign information, positive reinforcement, and how the reflective feedback is given to the player.

The reflective feedback mechanic was implemented to provide players with specific guidance after an unsuccessful attempt at the puzzle, helping learners understand and improve upon their mistakes.
